Evaluation

I think our final performance of Fugee went really well. I felt as though I was able to fully get into my character and hold that throughout the play. Our warm up exercises helped me do this as they allowed me to think deeply about the walk, voice and different aspects of my character. I was also glad as I remembered all my lines and cues. However if we were to do it again I would want to spend more time working on the voice of my character as this is something I didn't fully manage to explore and my final result wasn't completely different to my normal voice.

Blocking

One of the key thinks I've learnt during Fugee is the importance of blocking, because we use blocks in different scenes and they have to be taken on and off I have realised how helpful it is to write it down and put it in your script. I have also found it useful to write next to scene titles how my character is feeling in this scene and specific movements I should do to show this.

Characterisation exercises

Developing our character:

in today's lesson we worked on the habits and voices of our character. The voice exercise, In which we chose a line of ours and explored different ways of saying it, I really tried to work on the sarcastic and urban side of roza. I did this by slightly lowering her voice and also dragging out her vowels. The exercise helped me do this as it allowed me to say the line over and over until I found which way it sounded best.

We also worked on the walk and habits of our character, we did this by getting together with other people also playing our role and discussing with them what we believed our character would do. Originally me and Willa discussed her bitting her nails however we then realised this would make our voices on stage hard to understand so we changed it to her clicking her knuckles and scratching her head. I found this very useful as it allowed me and willa to make our versions of Roza similar.
